Spring 1983 and Radio Humberside were doing a roadshow at my old comprehensive, so me and the then girlfriend went down to check it out, usual crap all kiddy pop music no rock music, so up I went and requested some rock music, yea no problem we will get some on soon. 2 hours later and still waiting one of the production crew came up and said that basically they did not think it relevant to play any rock and so would we accept this gift as way of an apology, the gift was a selection of LP's including a promotional copy of Dio's (Ronnie, hope to God you were not the last in line!) first (and best) album and a dodgy looking LP by someone called Demon!there were others but these 2 will never be forgotten.

And so home we went, the first to be played was the Dio, mainly because we both knew of him from Sabbath and Rainbow, even to this day nearly 30yrs later that album still blows my head.

Did not get around to playing the Demon, the cover was slightly off putting and the booklet inside did not help, so left it till the morning. My god was that a mistake, I will never ever forget the first time I listened to the intro of THE PLAGUE, I had never heard anything like it before in my life (even now as I type this and listen to it in HD audio it still makes the hairs on my neck standup on end).

And so began my near 30 years of Demon Worship!.

The Plague was to remain on the turntable till the following xmas when my friends gave me Night of the Demon and Unexpected Guest as presents, and as much as I love these albums the Plague always got played more then anything else.

So I go to a crappy radio show, get introduced to the best music I have ever heard, and then my friends buy me the first 2 albums as xmas pressies, not a bad start is it! and it dont end there either!!

...I should hope not and about time to...everyone's got a story to tell and I think it makes us all richer for the telling...but what happened to Part 2 of the Demon Interview?

I've just dug out a great photograph of you Andy, posing with an exhausted Scott Crawford backstage after a gig in Germany.

Do you remember "Survive" condoms?!

Tell us the story about the gay bouncer and the dwarf please!

Best for now...Steve

Steve, with regards to the demon interview, 1 had no computer for over a month, but now things are all well again so it will be done soon.

And if you could email that picture that would be great!

As for the gay bouncer you will have to wait, it's all part of the story!

I can't believe this link or recording exist! This is me interviewing Dave on my rock show on BBC Radio Stoke, about the first-ever Demon gig without me playing. I'm amazed it's resurfaced - it's so long ago I can't even remember doing the interview... many thanks for the memories.
Chris Ellis.
PS, looking forward to part two...
