What would be your ideal 15 track (including encore) live Demon set-list?

This is difficult to do without leaving favourites out, but at the same time making a live set that would flow and integrate musically.
Here's my attempt;

Nowhere to run
Hurricane
Sound of the underground
Heart of our time
Proxima
What do you think about hell?
From the outside
The Plague
Hold on to the dream
Remembrance Day
Expressing the heart
Life on the wire
Let me out of here

Encore

Blue skies in red square
Wonderland
demon drummer
stoke

Hi giles intresting set list youve come up with however as you commented on the blacksmiths gig if you do like the first two albums you would be pretty upset with this gig,as we have spoken its difficult to please all the fans of the band but hopefully we can remedy this next year at some gigs buy doing a mixture from all the albums including the new one...neil

Hi Neil.

Thanks for your interaction.

if you do like the first two albums you would be pretty upset with this gig,

Not neccessarily, I would 'invert' that statement thus;

If you DON'T like the first two albums, you would be pretty upset with THAT (Blacksmith's) gig.

Maybe that's why I didn't go, maybe I was sub-consciously clued up!?

I don't neccessarily have a problem with the first two albums, but I would not expect half the set to be taken up by tracks from them, and I would be surprised if any true Demon fan would be in all honesty. It would seem to me that Demon are playing to metal heads only and/or just keeping it simple - which is fine, if that's the way they see the way forward. Why on earth should Demon go out of their way to please a few die-hards?? Nobody has commented here on this matter, so nobody cares less. I find it all quite odd, but then again I ALWAYS did. I don't think this is a problem Neil, don't worry about it mate, I know you are concerned, but I think you are the only one - there is only you and me talking about it here. Who else cares?? Nobody.

as we have spoken its difficult to please all the fans of the band but hopefully we can remedy this next year at some gigs buy doing a mixture from all the albums including the new one...neil

It is difficult to have a set-list to please all fans, but having half the set based on one sixth of the band's catalogue is not a start that would immediately pop into my mind.

Regarding the new album; how come there was nothing from that?

Go for it Russel! Give us epic/accoustic set-list.

With my set-list, the songs would be FULL versions, including any introductions (even the sound effects at the beginning of Hurricane for example). The start with 'Nowhere to run' would build up visually (with lighting, smoke etc) as well as it does musically.
Cool

I would like to add; this is NOT my top 15 Demon tracks at all! This is an alternative live set with more colours, flavours, textures and dynamics - an adolescent fantasy if you will - to continue.... Wink Smile

Hey Neil, I very nearly included 'Standing on the edge' in the live set, I think it is a really good 'rocker' co-written by your good self I believe.

I'll tell you what people; 'Give us your ideal set-list' is notoriously the most ACTIVE topic on any discussion forum for a band - not here! No, 100 or so of you just look at it. This suggests something is wrong - whichever way you want to look at it, that is abnormal.

Probably not quite what is intended but I would enjoy the boys following in the footsteps of Roger Waters (DSOTM.The Wall), Uriah Heep (Demons & Wizards), Wishbone Ash (Argus) and others that have in recent times performed complete albums - I would love to hear the whole of British Standard live..... Very Happy

I completely agree!!!

I listened to the album all the way through (twice) the other night, and it STILL sounds great, but more importantly, it flows in a way that would lend itself perfectly to some kind of theatrical presentation.

To my mind, some of the bands who've elected to play entire albums live (almost certainly their biggest sellers!) have often missed the point, as the albums in question are often just collections of unrelated songs, only some of which work in a live setting. However, BSA is a complete body of work which is designed to be listened to in its entirety.

A two part set comprising of BSA, then an interval, followed by a set of classics, would have me tugging one off with excitement!!! Smile

I think, to be fair, those bands that have performed entire albums live (that are not conceptual in nature) have done so as an entire tribute to a particular 'classic' album. However, I DO take the point.

I listened to BSP the other day and have to say that it has stood the test of time. It doesn't sound dated, I think because it has such a progressive sound, and 'prog rock' doesn't date really - as such. I agree that it would have worked live in its entirety in a suitable venue.

Judging from the list of live dates from 1984 onwards, it didn't look like that was ever going to change either dude.

I was only jesting matey, but yes, an interesting set-list - still pretty heavy, but good. Sacred Heart is the only track I really like off Blowout , even if it does sound very much like Scorpions. One small step (Acoustic) as well; a nice, novel and interesting choice. Nice one Rainer! Wink Smile

I started playing around with this but kept changing the list. Too many great songs and to be limited to 15, well....

However, it's nice to see other people like "What do you think about hell" to be in the set list. It's one of my favourite songs of all the bands I like not just Demon.

I think I'll put this on the backburner....

Hi to all. Cool

Now with much of us using Spotify & with most of Demon catalogue on it, it's possible to share your Demon playlists!

Not sure if this works as it was created with local(ripped to mp3/4) files.
