Great! So, who's going from the Demon Forum??

All I have to do is turn left at the end of James Street and keep going for 2,000 miles. Wink

You know, when you look at the positive reaction to Demon overseas, it's no wonder the group stick the metaphorical 'two fingers' up to the UK - I do too - on many levels.

Yes, it is a shame Neil. There's a lot of tension (manifests as aggression) in the UK - plus the weather is SHITE which doesn't help!

Hi Neil,

just a question: if you go to play for a single gig outside the UK, especially if it is far away like this forthcoming Cyprus gig, do you stay for a few days longer and combine work with a couple of holidays or do you just play your set and hurry back home?

And is there any profit left or do you have to "pay to play"? I can hardly imagine that all the costs for such a journey will be covered by the usual payment for the gig.

Kind regards
Space Dog Stefan

Nice one Neil that'll be cracking, the word is spreading, one of the best sites in Cyprus for Rock music and rock news is www.rockcyprus.net , Christos is a mate and he is totally sound!
I spotted your gig on his site, he'll put the poster up nearer the time, but if you email him some tackle rockcyprus@gmail.com he'll be well suited.

I need to ask Sosis the guy that has Kingston if I can get my band on that gig, it would be killer for me.

Lol check us out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_V-UPUjl2Q4 me being the Burnley lad with with the explorer, our other guitarist is Vic Malcolm (Ex Geordie)

You are gonna like Limassol, it's expensive but a good crack!
weather should be picking up as well by the time you get there.

Do I detect a touch of irony there? I spent Xmas there once and people were in the pool on Xmas day!!! It's minus 7 here pal, I suspect the weather will be just fine for Dave and the chaps.

It'll be sorted by april though.

Well it's one of the better rock venues here, not sure on capacity but I'm suspecting it'll be jammers.
The Pa is great, all the big rock venues here have decent Pa's.
I've never gigged there tbh but the singer from our band has.
I'm meeting with Nakis, one of the promoters, it's crazy but he is actually from my village.

What Equipment are you bringing?

I can tell you more after Sunday about what to expect, all I can say is there is a buzz already oh and it'll be a late one, first band usually doesn't go on until 11pm here.

There will be 2 support bands, us and I don't know who the other is yet.
You can see the stage here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRY2xbV0p4U&feature=related

Paul our singer says they had a couple of 4x12's and bass cab that are always at the venue and you always just brought a head with you and plug in, he also said the drummer in his band at the time said the kit was not bad.

Nakis is insisting we bring our own amps anyway.
I'll quiz him about the rider for you.

HA HA il pack my trunks aswell mate...i think most proper venues have decent gear the lads only need a clean valve amp they can generate a noise trough pedals,do you know what sort of crowd there will be are they metall fans or are they rockers...we cant bring much gear as easy jet allow us 3 gramms of excess baggage.. looking forward to it allready mate

A loud drunk Cypriot bunch!
Cypriots are metal heads, you'll like every one of them you meet, all the guys from the rock clubs are sound!
The simple fact that you have actually agreed to even come to Cyprus is enough to guarantee a decent crowd.

Awesome gig; the band was very tight and Dave's voice was great!
Met the band, very down to earth people, Dave Hill is one of the nicest men I've ever met in my life-one helluva guy : )

The songs
Night of the Demon
Into the nightmare
Blackheath
The plague
Standing on the edge
Remembrance day
Wonderland
The spell
Blue skies in red square
Commercial dynamite
Sign of a a madman
Life on a wire
Don't break the circle
One helluva night
Liar

Re above link to Remebrance Day: Sorry, for me, singing the octave higher in the verses kills a certain feel/emotion in the song. If you want to sing in a lower register for heavy music then do so. If that means turning down the ego and amp of axe men then so be it - Andrew Eldritch and Iggy Pop wouldn't compromise. Get the mix right for the vocalist, it is of the utmost importance!

aah giles your still alive then...the reason for this is nothing to do with guitars or egos or mixes on stage its to do with keys of songs and tuning ...slightly lowe than concert pitch if you get my drift .Hope this helps neil
