Just watched cozy playing headless cross live in russia circa 81 cant believe i never saw him play live its one of my biggest regrets,i went to watch micheal schenker but cozy had left and ted mckenna was on drums.I then had a chance to see him at the wheatsheaf in stoke a small venue when he was with peter green again i missed him, makes you realize nothing lasts forever got to go and see our heroes before its to late...

Good 'ol Cozy (God rest his soul). I remember first seeing him on TOTP in the mid 70s doing 'Dance with the Devil' - I think it was. Of course, he would have been your 'cup of tea' Neil, with him being a biker and metal drummer etc. Great drummer.

thanks russel. really incredible ... in two ways. the first, that it is incredible that the youtube-vids are forbidden to watch in germany. and the second is the solo itself (found it from MSG with cozy). i don't know if it is difficult to play, but it sounds really bombastic. maybe neil could tell us something about ist...

Imagine your 12 years old and you get your first drum kit...your sister hates you your mum and dad hate you ..the neighbours really hate you...in fact its the hottest summer for years and every house in the street has every window open.I have my first kit a premier 4 piece no cymbals just shells single headed...30 pounds for the lot/thankyou mr mason....I can play a beat ,one beat ,i play it all day everyday for the six weeks holiday even i hate me at the end of the summer....I had heard dance with the devil cozys song and i was hooked its what i wanted to be a drummer..my bike racing days would arrive much later.
Fast forward to my sister bringing home a rainbow album.it contained the track STARGAZER...this blew me away it was to me and still is one of the best drum intros ever, along side rock and roll by bonzo. Cozy just looked super cool he had a mega double bass drum kit loads of cymbals and a massive sound i wanted to be him,he got all the best gigs sabbath whitesnake rainbow msg he was for me the ultimate rock god.His solos were clever and for the time very inventive perhaps by todays standards a little bit tame but in its day brilliant.I have just got a chrome double bass drum ludwig kit in honour of cozy and i intend to use it for the uk demon gigs this year...ps my sister loves me now ...RIP COZY gone but never forgotten

I remember seeing Cozy 3 different times...Rainbow,MSG & then Black Sabbath on the 'Headless Cross' Tour ...I met him backstage after that gig...he's 1 of the nicest guys you'd want to meet. Still is my favorite drummer. Sorry! Ian (Paice). I'll break out the 'Over The Top' Lp every now & then...or listen to 'A Light In the Black' from Rainbow Rising...to bring back those great memeories. Love ya' Cozy...Keep Rockin' the Heavens,Brother !!!
