Hi the greenstar is a great little venue holding around 150 to 200 people run by a music fan who really works at promoting live music in the stoke on trent area. This is a perfect room to see bands ,your definately up close and personal here, and in my opinion worth a trip up if you fancy it.

Am desperately hoping to get up to see this. Missed you all and have just got to hope I can get the night off work so I can come. Anyone know a good but cheap hotel in the area as I'd have to stop over?

Don't do it guys! Don't reduce yourself to that level - Demon are better than that. Get yourself on somebody's tour with proper stage/lighting and sound if you can. There MUST be some act that would have Demon support them on a tour surely!???

I appreciate it is a 'warm up' (maybe) or an album launch event, but it won't do you justice.

Hey Neil. I do appreciate that it is as a warm-up (or glorified band practice), and it will be good for you, but something like the Limelight may have been better for an album showcase/promo etc.
Clubs at least, and not the local boozer! Anyway, all UK Demon gigs are like this and I think it is below the status of the band. I know you seem to have a hard time getting anything else, but I really think in order to promote the album you should get on a tour of some description....it can't be that difficult surely? Why go to all that trouble and expense to make an album and then not promote it properly? Or is it deliberate? I mean, to me Demon seem to like playing the 'down-trodden, no luck, no money, no fame-seeking' scenario - you only have to check the lyrics out; what's the latest one? "Fame is the price you pay when our ego destroys all our dreams"? I don't think Demon 'want it', or ever did to be quite frank.

I don't want to get into any bitter debate just because I observe something that others appear to miss or want to miss, so don't expect further response on this - I have made my point, and some of you know it is true.

Hello giles i respect your point of view and im definately not getting into an argument..the limelight was a good gig ,however its been derelict for 5 years ...we tried other venues ie the sugarmill but they were prebooked as this was a little bit last minute with fazzers departure. The greenstar is a mega little venue run by a major music fan who was really pleased to have demon on,he gave us a great offer and we will gladly play for him.

As regards getting on a major uk tour its practically impossible believe me we have tried,we have been doing this long enough to know you need to play to promote an album..we arent stupid,we definately dont like to wallow in the down trodden image you speak about, the lyrics about people in the media at the moment ie 5 minute so called stars who arrive on our screens on shite programmes like x factor....

Why dont you make an effort to come and see us tonite at the greenstar and then judge the venue and the band for yourself live, not secondhand through youtube footage, you never know you may enjoy it

Hi Neil, thanks for your reply. Hope the gig went well.

I may have been a bit harsh about the venue actually, and I respect the points you make. I too don't want to get into any 'argument' as am tired of it.

To be honest, I was very close to making the effort to come to the gig but thought I may not have been welcome. I do really like some of the songs on the new album and would have liked to have heard them live - I think 'Unbroken' would make a cracking opener after some atmospheric sounds.

new to the board but been a fan since 82.went to see Demon last night at the green star for the first time in 30 years.Demon dont play that many gigs and something always cropped up everytime i tried to see them but last night i made the 170 mile round trip and was not dissapointed.was lucky enough to meet mr Hill and Neal(Dave and Neal if you are reading this i was the guy who's camera ran out of batteries when Neal tried to take a picture of me and Dave).Great guys ,absolute gentlemen.Nice little venue and touching distance to the band.Think the new album is very good, not the best but still a good album.I also agree with Giles,i wish Demon could hook up on a tour as a support band and get some recognition they deserve, either that or some more uk gigs if poss.Anyway will pay more visists to the forum in future, long live Demon

Well I made it to the Green Star last night and am so glad I did. As always Demon were amazing and well worth my 370 mile round trip Very Happy. Whilst I agree it's sad that Demon never got the recognition they deserved they have one thing that a lot of big bands have forgotten ... I real love for what they do and a huge amount of time for the fans that love them.

Keep doing what you're doing guys ... love you all x

Yve

Ray Walmsley Back!

Does this mean the songs the band were working on --and put on the back burner -- before his departure, might see the light of day now?

Hi Guys, I don't really "do" forums (yet another password to remember), but I have to say that having made it up from Devon for the gig (with a family visit thrown in - BTW, excellent timing with it being half-term ;-)) had to make a post to say thanks to the band for making a superb night for this ageing rocker!!

Not having seen Demon since 1986 at the Barrel Organ next to Digbeth bus station in Brum, it was a pleasure to witness the guys play their fantastic (and most under-rated) music once more. The icing on the cake was a good chat with Dave at the end - such class when your musical-heroes make the time to do this. Pat on the back for the new keyboard player too who told me they gave him just 3 weeks to learn the set.............. nice one!!

Also, thanks to Stu at the Green Star for making the effort to send us taxi details, sort out our tickets at the door, etc. What a great venue...

Hope to catch them on one of the Euro-fests next year (Sweden sounds good), but I'll be keeping an eye out for future UK dates for sure. Go on lads, do the GS again, I'm getting a taste for Hobgoblin...
