I'd really like to know other people's opinions on the album 'Blow-Out'. I personally think it's a killer album, but sadly forgotten. Sad

Your welcome. If you can help me to find "Blow Out" to be a good album i will be a lucky man. Very Happy (it´s already paid and in stock so it only can be improved...)
Hopefully nobody else asks about some other album critics...
OKAY: the plague forever plays in world serious amoungst Dream Theater and Miss "Her Godess" Tori Amos.

PS: but i still wonder why we´re talking about Demon`s most strangly emergency output which had an extremely influence on their breakdown of "success" (in small amounts).

I guess if Demon would not had release this record with this line-up but took a 1 or 2 year longer time composing and creating, there would not have been this long time break for 7 or more years. The band was really down this time. That is my opinion as a musician myself and a fan indeed. A statement to this topic by Dave or Mike would be very interesting amongst all this Steve-Watts-massageboard-fuss.
Really: hopefully someone of you (Dave or Mike) replies something to this "dark" aera of Demon. It is pretty interesting to your fans.
Try to help you with an explicit question: Why "Blow Out" (did´nt you compare it to the former records?) and what happend afterwards?
"Blow Out" is a record which is needed to complete a Demon collection, but i never ever listened to it twice. Sorry guys, maybe there are some fans who like it. (I am a real Demon fan from the first hour (you know me, Space Dog, we shared some drinks in the backstage of Headbangers Ballroom in Hamburg 3 years ago, thanks for that) and i know that you cannot turn back time) Just let us know what´s it all about "Blow Out" and Demon`s pause. Is´nt there any coherence?
Background: i´ve missed you for a long time and did not know if i had to mourn about a Demon funeral. For god´s sake it wasn't.

Please reply,
Thank you, your Space Dog

I like it.
But at first when it was released I thought what a cryppy record.
But after some years I gave it a second chance and there really was some great songs on it.
Missing the keyboards on the albums before for sure, but still a good song IS a good song.

I think I had some songs on my playlist when we discussed the setlist a year ago.

It's not a bad record. I love songs as "Visions of the Future II", Stop The Fire, Soldier of fortune, Sacred Heart. Really creepy sound without keyboards, very heavy, and powerful. A different step for Demon. Not so great other albums but i like it. Another underrated album. I think so.

I have never been too sure which is the worst Demon album ever: Better the Devil or Blow-Out - I'm pluming for Better the Devil as it doesn't even sound finished production-wise. Both albums have had about 5 patient 'spins' by me and then thrown into to the shit bin. Sorry, that's my opinion.

I don't quite understand why people dislike it. I think it's great, but there you go, each to their own. Smile

I just think some people don't find simple heavy metal particularly exciting.

One or two good tracks - maybe more, but when it all become 'samey' one just loses interest and the whole thing just become homogenised and ...........frankly boring!!!

Having said that, Steve Brookes was/is a GOOD metal/rock rhythm guitarist in my opinion and no doubt put his all into that album, and probably felt the pressure to come up with 'the goods' musically for which he seems to have got no recognition.

Well, I DID like the production a lot, and it has some really great material on it, "Tell Me What You're Looking For", "Million Dollar Ride" and "War Games" are among Demons best "metal" songs, and "Visions Of The Future" is also great though I'd probably prefered it if they had combined both parts to a single epic piece.

At the time I was rather disappointed, as it was quite a departure from the epic style I loved about the band. Could kick myself that I didn't go to see them on that tour - when they played in Saarbrücken on my 18th birthday... Crying or Very sad

I've always thought that "Still Worth Fighting For" sounded like it was played a bit too fast, Dave hardly seems to be able to fit all the words in! Laughing
