DONT WASTE YOUR TIME
THIS ALBUM IS PATHETIC. I'M ASHAMED TO SAY I BOUGHT IT. IF NOTHING ELSE, I CAN FEEL BETTER KNOWING THAT I MIGHT SAVE SOMEONE ELSE THE PAIN OF HAVING TO LISTEN TO THIS MISERABLE ATTEMPT AT LISTENABLE MUSIC.

For fans only
The previous review is a bit harsh, to be honest. True, it isn't a great album but it's clear Demon went for a more slower 'progressive' slant rather than the full rock/metal sound they're known for. For fans only who want to complete their collection. Buy 'Night of The Demon', 'Unexpected Guest' or 'Taking The World By Storm' for their best stuff.

My thoughts are: Why should we be bothered about two rather poor and quite irrelevant fan "reviews" on an online shop?

OK,

added mine as well. Hope that helps to bring it into a more "objective" light :-)

OK, my 'two penneth':

The first 'review' is simply an incoherent, inarticulate, unconstructive, bitter (is it someone Demon owe money to or something??), purely subjective and self-obsessed rant. People should really try injecting 'I think' and 'I believe' into their sweeping statements of 'fact' sometimes - a major problem in society these days! Some call it semantics; I call it an ego-driven inability to communicate effectively.

In the second review, the reviewer does a little better (not much), but I can't concur with the statements made about the musical direction; why would Demon be better known for rock/metal after half their catalogue (by that time) having a more progressive slant (particularly BSA which I consider to BE prog rock!)? It seems as though this reviewer is unaware of the existence of 'The Plague' and/or 'BSA'.

'Heart of our Time', to me, comes across as a hard melodic rock/prog rock 'cross-over' sound akin to say, Magnum.....but more sophisticated and less AOR in my opinion - I like it as not many bands do this.

I perceive that at this point, Steve Watts was maybe thrown into Mal Spooner shoes without enough guidance, support and full appreciation (from the non-songwriters ?) of the circumstance for such a young man. As a consequence, the sound on this album sounds somewhat experimental to me, as though Demon were trying to re-invent themselves somewhat (which they clearly were!), and for that it may sound a little 'confused' in parts.

All in all I think it is good and has some VERY good tracks on it indeed. In fact, it's one of my favourite Demon albums! So there! Shocked

I WAS going to post this on that CD Universe shite - SORRY, SITE , but it seems you can't unless you have bought something there. Rolling Eyes

Looks like it takes a little time until a comment is going to be released after it had been written. Meanwhile Sasha´s is posted. Hopefully mine will follow within the next days...

That would be me! Although it's actually Sascha, if you drop the "C", it's usually a girl's name! Very Happy

@Giles: you don't need to set up an account, you just need to go to the product page (http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=5888730), and right below the reviews there is a "Write a review" button!
